They all did a great job researching, illustrating, and writing these science stories about the Ice Age and the Paleozoic for all our visitors to see. They are being assigned their specimens for their museum exhibit project. Each group will have to do research about their specimen to tell a story and design a mini-exhibit that will go into the Hall of Life!

Our collections crew are working on cataloging some 75 million year old fossils from Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. These have been getting worked on in the prep lab as we get ready for all the new specimens our field team excavated this past summer!

Over the last 14 years we have uncovered material from hadrosaurs, pterosaurs, tyrannosaurs, crocs, turtles, and plenty of plants and snails. And of course #DinosaurJoe!

This new species of Pacific mastodon was announced today and described by Western Science Center paleontologist, Dr. Alton Dooley, and colleagues in PeerJ (https://peerj.com/articles/6614.pdf).
