As a relative “newbie” , I take every opportunity to learn about the fossils that I find.  I had some fossils identified a couple of weeks ago and was told that this is the jaw of a rodent.  I found it at the Belgrade Quarry last year.

Nice find, @julie-niederkorn! I wonder if this is potentially something that @bmacfadden and @dbohaska might want to see, for the fossil land mammal collection they are starting. @lmccall, has anyone else in your club found land mammals at Belgrade lately?

Thanks for sharing, Julie! I think this would be a great fossil to add to the Fossil Gallery, too!

    Cheers,
    Eleanor

Its hard to know for sure what kind of rodent it is because the teeth are diagnostic. But it is, nevertheless, and interesting discovery. Thanks for sharing it with us! Bruce
